Precious

Once upon a time

 I thought I knew everything.

Then life knocked me on the head

 and showed me I knew nothing.

I traveled very far

before I saw results of decisions past.

I loved and lost more people

as if nothing ever lasts.

I saw new beginnings

as well as many ends.

I broke more lovely pieces

than I could ever mend.

I think I’ve learned a lot

and yet still I feel regret.

For there’s so much more to learn

than I can ever forget.
